I would like to talk about something that isn't often discussed...depression. We have been under 45's reign for over a year now, are in the darkest part of our season, and many of us have just trudged through annual holidays (though celebrating nothing, alone, also has its own feels). I've had trouble not succumbing to the trials of this year, for myriad reasons, and my gender identity/presentation has added layers to already shitty situations.

If you are comfortable doing so, please share your own experiences with depression. What interplay have you found between your experiences as a trans and/or nonbinary person and your experiences with depression? What are your triggers, if you are a person that experiences chronic depression? What do you do in the interest of self care, either to prevent or to make it through depressive periods? What might we do as a community, to help ease the brunt of depression on the individual?

The linked article spoke to me and my experiences on many levels. I encourage y'all to read it, if you like, so that we might have further common ground for our discussion, but also because I believe that it may speak to you, as well. (Not required for participation in our conversation.)

Let us come together to discuss all of the above, sharing both our burdens and the ways in which we might make them a little bit lighter.
